The development of Church liturgical music today cannot be separated from the development of Church music over time. It is commonly understood that attempting to describe the over 2000-year history of the Church's music in a single tract is impractical. As a result, the breakdown is broad, allowing us to see the progression of Church music from one epoch to the next. Church music is influenced or exists in the context of history as a whole, as well as the context of music history as a whole. This paper focuses on the systematic review and examination of published primary sources that are kept in various collections, libraries, and record centers. The bibliography digs deeper into these sources as well as archival collections. The history of liturgical music has its unique musical style in every era. There is Baroque music (17th century), Renaissance music (15-17th century), Classical music (18th century), Romantic music (19th century), Impressionist music (late 19th century) but faded after World War I, and various modern music of the 20th century, both profane (such as jazz, tango, pop, rock, and so on) and religious. Today, music is regarded as an integral aspect of the Church's liturgy.

Dalam karyanya "Religion within the Boundaries of Mere Reason.”

In the study of the heavenly sanctuary and Christ's ministry in it, theinterpretation of the phrase “within the veil” (Heb. 6:19-20) and its implicationshave become one of crucial contentious theological issues among interpreterswithin the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church. In the 160 year history of theSDA Church, there have been crucial theological debates on the interpretation ofthe phrase. Many SDA Church administrators, ministers, and scholars haveagreed and disagreed with one another on the interpretation of the phrase and itsimplications. The debate over the interpretation of the phrase "within the veil"among Adventist scholars has resulted in the proposition of differentinterpretations among Adventist theologians. The main question this studyseeks to answer is, How have the various interpretations of the phrase “withinthe veil” (Heb. 6:19-20) been developed within the SDA Church history? What, then, are the implications of each different interpretation in the study of theheavenly sanctuary and Christ's intercessory ministry in the heavenly sanctuary

This study aims to identify the understanding of Anthony Hoekema on the image of God.Anthony Hoekema’s theology as a whole is a Reformed theology. The core and the veryfoundation of the Reformed theology is the sovereignty of God. Hoekema saw that thecreation of man in God’s image is “the most distinctive feature of biblical understanding ofman” (Hoekema 1988). This was why he understood that “the concept of the image of God isthe heart of Christian anthropology” (Hoekema 1988). Hoekema’s concept of the image ofGod in man is examined in this paper, which is divided into the following five parts: themeaning of being created in the image of God, the structural and functional aspects of God’simage, Jesus as the true image of God, the image of God in man’s threefold relationship, andthe image of God in four different stages. Hoekema maintained that the image of God in manmust contain both structural and functional aspects, for “the image of God includes the wholeperson” (Hoekema 1987). The structural aspect means “what kind of being man is”(Hoekema 1976, while functional aspect means “what man does.” For Hoekema, these twoaspects of God’s image in man are inseparable, for “one cannot function without a certainstructure” (Hoekema 1989). Hoekema asserted that “there is no better way of seeing theimage of God than to look at Jesus Christ” (Hoekema 1987), for he believes, based onColossians 1:15, that He is the “image of the invisible God” (Hoekema 1988). In Christ, whois God incarnated, one sees “clearly what is hidden in Genesis 1: namely, what man as theperfect image of God should be like” (Hoekema 1976). In other words, Hoekema understoodthat the perfect image of God that man possessed at creation, is found in the the life of humanJesus

    Get PDF
The spirit of the antichrist had appeared in the first century AD and was misleading the Christians of that day. The Apostle John through his letter guided the Lord's church so that it would not to be led astray. In his epistle John wrote thus: “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist.” (1 Jn 4:1-3). The doctrine that John was facing at that time was Gnosticism. The word 'Gnosticism' comes from the words Ancient Greece: ωστΜωστÎčÎșός (gnostikos), which means: learned. While the word áż¶ÏƒÎœÏ‚Îčς (gnƍsis) means knowledge. The teachings of Gnosticism are also encountered by Christians today. For that reason, Christians today need to understand the doctrine and then anticipate its influence in Christian life. Through this paper, the author will give some responses to the views of Gnosticism and its relation to the ‘Gospel’ of Thomas

“INVESTIGATIVE Judgement” In The Perspective Of John Wesley

    No full text
